Where would you turn to if you had no hope to provide the basics for your family? With a mentor program for parents that includes basic provisions and a safe children’s program, parents are finding hope in their difficult situation at Haven’s Hope.
The second Saturday of each month, from 9:00am—12:00pm, Haven's Hope serves an average of 48 families and provides diapers and wipes for approximately 60 children. Parents are invited to drop their kids off in the children's program while they meet with a mentor, shop in the Second Chance Thrift Store, and receive their monthly allotment of diapers/wipes.
In the children's program, volunteers share the love of Jesus with the children by providing a snack, play time, craft time, and a Bible-based story. Meanwhile, parents are given a welcome respite to meet with mentors to discuss their current circumstances and needs. Mentors walk parents through job placement, resume writing, car repairs, transportation issues, homelessness, drug addiction/rehab while sharing how Christ can positively impact their lives.
One mom felt as if no one really cared about her situation. Then she discovered Haven's Hope where she felt so loved and encouraged by her mentors. When her children aged out of the Haven's Hope program, she decided to volunteer as a mentor. Her compassion, empathy, and knowledge really bless the women that she now serves through mentoring!
Volunteers are needed, especially in the children's ministry area, from 8:30am—12:00pm the second Saturday of each month.
