Food Pantry

We provide nourishing food and spiritual guidance to families in need from the Metro area. Most of our families are elderly and or disabled and will need long term assistance . Currently we are serving 50 - 60 families and distribute about 2500 pounds of meat, vegetables and canned goods in a grocery like atmosphere. Families can "shop" for the items they prefer. We have about 25 volunteers, as young as 4 to 80+, who serve to make this happen. They serve as counselors, personal shoppers, loaders, and those who assist in the dairy, meat and vegetable departments each month. We have volunteers who find us the best deals at the local grocery stores, pick up food from several locations, stock the shelves, order food from Food Bank of the Rockies, and a variety of other services including setting up and tearing down the shared space.

The food pantry has been blessed by companies that donate fresh food and vegetables on a monthly basis. We have families who come in need and become part of our volunteers. Foe example Roger had some medical problems and was unable to work. He came for food for many months, recovered from his medical issues and now serves others at the pantry. Ed, a disabled vet arrives early, passes out numbers to clients to help bring order to our distribution system. Jan and Mike, who once were an integral part of the distribution team now are recipients, due to medical issues, are are still serving.

Did you know we have a mini grocery located in the rear of the Second Chance Thrift Store for families in need that is open the third Thursday of each month 9:30-11:30 am?
We would love for anyone interested in the Pantry to drop by the third Thursday of the month or you can schedule a tour of the pantry by calling Jan 720-638-8149.

We are in need of volunteers to help load boxes of food (2-3 hours the 3rd Thursday of each month). We always have a need for canned fruit, vegetables and cereal as these are staples that we must replenish each month. Currently our volunteers are busy providing distribution of food, we really need some folks who will serve as ambassadors of Christ and just visit and love on those we serve.
